DARLINGTON Council’s chief executive Ada Burns presented a "forthright" picture of the authority’s finances when she addressed the town’s Rotary Club.

Ms Burns gave a presentation to the club in which she outlined in quiz format the challenges facing the council over the coming years.

She explained that the council has seen a £24m reduction in central government funding in the last two years, with a further £14m to come.

A Rotary Club report described the speech as "very precise and forthright" and Rotarian Alasdair MacConachie complimented Mrs Burns on her presentation and for her positive leadership of the staff of the Borough Council.

Ms Burns was a special guest at the club’s meeting in which members also learned that Darlington Rotarians have won the southern zone quiz competition and qualified for the regional final.
