THE WORK of young carers will be celebrated at an event on Thursday (April 4).
The Tees Valley YMCA Young Carers Project is holding a celebration event to highlight the achievements of young carers across Darlington.
A six foot high sculpture of an elephant created by a team of young carers working towards a Bronze Arts Award will be unveiled by a special guest in front of staff, carers and their friends and family at Tees Valley YMCA, in Middleton Court, Darlington.
The sculpture will take pride of place in the garden at the YMCA as a tribute to the hard work of young people in the area.
The arts award, sponsored by the North Yorkshire and South Durham Decorative and Fine Art Society, saw a team of ten youngsters, aged between 11 and 14, work together to create a unique piece of art.
