A WOMAN became frustrated and assaulted her sister’s boyfriend after being forced to share a room with the couple.

Emma Louise Colling, 21, appeared before Darlington Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday April 2) where she admitted attacking her sister’s boyfriend – who cannot be named for legal reasons – when the couple locked her out of her family home on Thursday, October 25 last year.

Jennifer Coxon, defending, said: “The injured party had been dating the defendant’s sister and he had been spending quite a considerable amount of time at the family home and had been staying over regularly, which caused some friction between the sisters, as they shared a bedroom.

“When she came home on the day in question, she was locked out of the property and had to climb over a fence to get in. Seeing him there and being told he was going to stay more nights caused an argument between her and her sister which started this situation.

“The gentleman became involved and she accepts that she lashed out at him and punched him once, or more than once.”

Miss Colling, of Acacia Gardens, Crook, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating and will appear before magistrates again on Wednesday May 1. She has been released on unconditional bail until that date.
