AN 80-year-old man was restrained while burglars ransacked his home.
Police investigating the robbery, on Bright Street, Darlington, have released CCTV images of two suspects they are hoping to identify.
The incident happened at about 7.30pm on January 9, when the 80-year-old man was targeted in his own home.
PC Paul Cooper from Darlington CID said: “Two males pushed past the victim when he opened the door and one man physically restrained him whilst the other went upstairs and stole money from his bedroom.
“The victim was left visibly shaken and upset and sustained minor injuries to his hands as a result of trying to fend off the robbers and stop them restraining him.
“The CCTV stills show the two suspects walking toward Bright Street and the vehicle which they arrived and left in. I appreciate that the images are not the best quality but if anybody vaguely recognises the males or vehicle then please let us know.
“This was a cowardly attack on a vulnerable man and we want to catch the perpetrators who did this.”
