JOHN ROBERTSON is adamant his dream of making Paralympic history is still very much alive despite suffering a significant setback at Weymouth yesterday.

Robertson, and three-person keelboat Sonar crewmates Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas, are bidding to make history at the London 2012 Games by being the first GB sailors to claim a Paralympic medal.

That dream was realistic having headed into London ranked No. 1 in the world– however it has far from gone all their way on the south coast.

The GB sonar crew had yet to finish in the top three in any of their first four – of 11 – races heading into yesterday’s competition.

And after grabbing fourth – their third of the competition – in the fifth race things went from bad to worse with their worst placing of the week in the second race of the day, ending 13th.

That saw them drop down two places in the overall rankings to seventh with just five races remaining ahead of Thursday’s 11th and final race.

“It’s been a mixed day,” said Robertson. “The first race was good; the second race not so good.

“It’s all still to play for going into the last few days.

“You just make sure you never give up. We will just keep working hard and keep the processes.’’
