A TEENAGER appeared in court today accused of killing two of his friends in a crash by driving dangerously.

Joshua Stevenson and Joshua Hopkins, both 17, were among seven youths in a people carrier driven by Arseng Rashid.

The Toyota Corola Verso crashed close to the A66 between Mandale Triangle and Teesside Park, Stockton, in the early hours of September 11 last year.

Mr Stevenson, from nearby Ingleby Barwick, and Mr Hopkins, from Thornaby, were killed, and four others were taken to hospital.

Mr Rashid, 18, of Hilston Close, Ingleby Barwick, is charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday for a brief hearing, but did not enter please to any of the charges.

He was given bail by Judge Tony Briggs and will return to the court for a plea and case management hearing in March
