NEARLY £2,000 has been handed over to a charity and a voluntary organisation following an inaugural fair.
St Teresa’s Hospice, in Darlington, and the Grange Community Centre, in Hurworth, received £1,850 each from the proceeds of Hurworth Country Fair, held in September.
The fair held at the community centre featured a variety of entertainment, including Segway riding, paintballing, ferret Olympics, an assault course and competitions for amateur cooks and artists.
The two beneficiaries have now received their share of the profits.
Fair manager Denis Pinnegar said: “The Hurworth Country Fair was an outstanding success which brought people from throughout the surrounding area together for a funpacked day. It was truly a great community effort with more than 2,000 people attending over the course of the day, and we are delighted to have assisted the superb work of St Teresa’s Hospice.”
It is hoped the event will become an annual one.
