PART of a council headquarters was sealed off after a worker received what was initially thought to be a suspicious envelope.
A section of Durham County Council’s County Hall HQ, in Aykley Heads, Durham City, was closed off after a member of staff received the item on Thursday morning.
A Durham Police spokeswoman said the envelope had not been opened and it was not considered to pose a risk to any member of staff or the public.
On further investigation it was found to be non-suspicious and the incident was stood down.
