A police car responding to an emeregency call was involved in a collision with another car last night.
An investigation has been launched into the accident between the marked police car and a red VW Golf at the junction of Stockton Road and Cornwall Street, Hartlepool, at 7.20pm.
A parked car was also damaged.
The 53-year-old driver of the VW was unhurt while the police driver was taken to North Tees General Hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.
The road was closed until 9.20pm.
Accident investigators are appealing for any witnesses to call 01642-326326.
