A TEENAGER who lured a schoolgirl to his den for sex was yesterday caged by a judge who lifted restrictions of naming him.

Dwayne Ryan can now be identified as the "cunning and persistent" brute who attacked the 15-year-old in Hartlepool last summer.

Ryan was 16 when he stole the girl's dog and effectively made her follow him to his home late at night to retrieve her beloved pet.

He bundled her into his shed - a den fitted out with a chair, wood-burning stove and hi-fi - shoved her onto a chair and groped her breast.

Teesside Crown Court heard how the terrified victim thought she was going to be raped and escaped only after feigning an asthma attack.

Ryan chased the girl, dragged her to the ground, covered her mouth as she screamed and said: "Just give me a quickie here on the grass."

The court heard that the girl's mother had tried to call her because she was late returning home, and could hear her frantic screams.

Judge Fox told Ryan that the girl had made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him, and added: "She had to fight for her honour."

He said: "You had not the slightest regard for her humanity . . . you kissed her, grabbed her breast, you were pulling her tracksuit bottoms down.

"You were cunning . . . you seized her little dog on the lead and so, in effect, this girl had no choice but to come with you to that shed.

Nicholas Lumley, mitigating, accepted Ryan made repeated requests for sexual activity, but said what followed was merely "drunken, boorish and selfish behaviour."

The court heard that Ryan has 38 offences on his criminal record, including violence, but has no previous convictions for sexual matters.

He had been drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis before the attack, which started shortly before 11pm on August 20 last year.

Ryan, now aged 17, of Otterpool Close, Hartlepool, admitted two charges of sexual assault at an earlier court hearing.
