ORCHESTRAL concerts at Ripon Cathedral will be the main attraction at the city's ninth annual international festival.
The festival, from September 8 to 17, will see the return of Opera North and Northern Sinfonia.
Artistic director Janusz Piotrowicz has devised a programme for the Opera North concert at Ripon Cathedral on Sunday, September 10.
It will begin with Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy, followed by Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No II, the Polovtsian Dances by Borodin and the First Symphony of Sibelius.
Northern Sinfonia, one of the leading chamber orchestras in Europe, will be joined by four young operatic stars -Martene Grimson, Anna Stephany, Andrew Sritheran and Kzrysztof Szumanski.
The festival will also feature drama and comedy. Radio, stage and television personality Ian McMillan, actor Bruce Purchase and actor, radio and television presenter Nicholas Parsons will all appear.
Other attractions will include flamenco with Juan Martin's Quinteto Fabuloso, the Razumovsky Ensemble in Schubert's String Quintet and a candlelight harp and flute concert.
