VISITORS to a North-East museum are helping to recreate the turbulent times of the fight for female suffrage.
The Suffragette Rallies are being held at Beamish Museum three times a week during the summer.
People are able to dress up in clothes from 1913 and join either the suffragettes, suffragists or the anti-contingent. They march through the town street chanting slogans of the day and wave authentic banner to recreate an authentic atmosphere.
Karen Teasdale, Beamish's assistant keeper of education, said: "It is a hands-on way of looking at women's struggle for suffrage.
"People love the dressing up and it is great for them to really get involved in history."
Rallies are held at noon and 2pm each day. Call 0191-370 4000 for more details.
