ACTOR and comedian Ade Edmondson has been out and about in the Yorkshire Dales to front a new TV series.

The star of The Young Ones and Bottom has been filming for a new fly-on-the-wall series, The Dales.

The series follows on form the successful show The Lakes, which pulled in 4.3m viewers.

Backed by the tourism body Welcome to Yorkshire, the series will feature local characters and life in the Dales.

Full details are still being kept under wraps but some of the show has been filmed at Swinton Park, a luxury castle hotel near Masham.

Owner Felicity Cunliffe-Lister said: "We think it's going to be great for us in that it shows us not just being a hotel in the Yorkshire Dales but also how much the hotel plays a part in the local community and economy.

"Hopefully they have got lots of nice shots of the fabulous scenery and have brought the Dales to life showing that there's lots to do in Yorkshire - whatever the weather."

Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity said: "When we announced plans to support The Dales, we were met with an overwhelming response from local people who are truly proud of what Yorkshire has to offer.

"This is a great chance to show off the Yorkshire Dales which is an absolute jewel in our region.

"Viewers cannot fail to be impressed by what we have to offer and we hope that this will bring even more visitors to Yorkshire and help make us the number one UK tourist destination."

The series will be broadcast early next year.
