THE occupant of a flat had to be led to safety by firefighters after a blaze at a block of flats in Hendon, Sunderland.
A total of 16 firefighters were called to the block of flats in D'arcy Court around 5.50pm on Thursday.
The fire was in the kitchen of the second floor property.
The occupant was checked over by paramedics, but did not go to hospital.
