Here's what Mark had to say about some of his leading lights, with additional editorial footnotes on pedigree pointers and other helpful information.

ATLANTIC WAVES
Atlantic Waves was really impressive first time out when winning on his debut over seven furlongs at Leicester.

He then went to Salisbury finishing fifth in a blanket finish which was disappointing, although he got smacked across the face when trying to battle back in the closing stages, plus ran green. His pedigree suggests he'll stay further.

BAAN
Although we didn't start out with very high hopes for him, Baan's a classic case of a horse moving swiftly through the ranks and now we're trying to win a listed race with him. He's only a small colt, however he's a tough, genuine sort, who has done nothing wrong so far.

Baan won twice, including quite a valuable conditions event at Epsom over eight furlongs, as a juvenile. He acts on both fast and soft ground.

BROCATELLO
Never made the track last year, however, being by Sadler's Wells, should make a nice three-year-old.

BLACK CHARMER
He is very tough, but to win at the highest level he's got to improve a little.

The form of the horses finishing just ahead of him last year has worked out fantastically well, which can only be a good thing.

Black Charmer was beaten less than a half-length into third place by Sir Percy in a Group 2 event at Goodwood, the latter then went to take Newmarket's Group 1 Darley Stakes and become the top-rated UK-based two-year-old.

CRIME SCENE
Had a problem with the stalls on intended his second start, but once that's sorted out there's plenty more to come from him having won on his Newcastle six furlong debut.

Crime Scene is by the sprinter, Royal Applause, out of a mare who won over middle distances. He has a lovely mixture of speed and stamina in his pedigree.

DESERT D'ARGENT
Unfortunately, she fractured a pedal bone after winning in heavy ground over seven furlongs at Doncaster in October, but provided she overcomes her injury, she a very nice horse with the plan to gradually step her up in distance.

Attraction sustained a similar type of injury at about the same stage of her two-year-old career, a setback from which she fully recovered and went on to win five Group 1 races, including the English and Irish 1,000 Guineas.

FENNERS
Owned by Sheikh Mohammmed and won his final start of last season at Redcar over one mile. He came back from a long break that day and should improve again this term.

Fenners possesses quite a stout pedigree and like London Express looks the type to make significant progress once stepped up to middle-distances.

IN FULL CRY
We've got to be very excited about this colt having won on his only start at Ripon last year. He raced on the far side of the track and pulled clear of that group, then hung over towards the stands' rail and passed the ones racing there, so he was incredibly impressive.

He had a problem and didn't appear after, however he's very talented.

Although In Full Cry won over six furlongs, his dam, Red Roses Story, picked up a 15-furlong Group 1 event, injecting stamina into the pedigree.

JAAD
He slightly surprised us when winning on his Carlisle debut in September, but then was a shade disappointing on his only other start in a better quality race at Newbury. Whatever happens, he's a decent handicapper in the making.

LONDON EXPRESS
He wasn't one of our stars, nonetheless will be an improving handicapper once stepped up in trip this season.

London Express was a model of consistency, winning over one mile at Ripon, plus finishing second on his other three starts. He has proven form on both fast ground and a soft surface - so has every chance of enjoying a profitable three-year-old campaign.

LIGHTNING AFFAIR
Ended on a high note by winning a seven furlong maiden at Newcastle.

Looks a nice horse for this season.

He is a rare commodity these days - being grey. He's by the former champion US three-year-old, Thunder Gulch, out of a mare by another great champion, triple-crown hero, Affirmed.

LUBERON
Like Baan, Luberon is another example of a colt who at one time wasn't regarded as anything special, but progressed out of the pack into one of our better two-year-olds last year.

MADAARES
Madaares only ran once when finishing sixth on his debut at York, I think he's the type to do much better this year.

Reading between the lines, this son of Rahy has got plenty more to offer and should not be left out of calculations.

MELAAYA
Won on her six furlong Epsom debut, then inished sixth in a far hotter race at Newmarket in October. She's very lightly raced and is a nice filly to follow once stepped up in trip.

NAKHEEL
He's entered in the Guineas and Derby on the strength of a runaway success in the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes at Pontefract. Having won his maiden at Hamilton we stepped him straight up in grade to find out just how good he was and it was a fantastic result. Has got plenty of pace and I will be suggesting to his owner, Hamdan Al Maktoum, that we'll start him off in the Guineas, albeit with a view he'll be better over further.

Nakheel is one of the best bred horses in training, by the multiple champion sire, Sadler's Wells, out of an Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, Matiya.

NIHAL
Nihal is a lovely filly who I've always liked, although she did disappoint on her final start last term when well beaten at Doncaster's St Leger meeting.

Saying that, she'd previously won nurseries at Ayr and York (Ebor Festival), so could easily bounce back.

However, she will start at a lower level this year.

Nihal is by the Japan Cup winner, Singspiel, and is closely related to winners between seven furlongs and one-and-three-quarter miles, so has the potential to improve at middle distances.

PRINCE OF LIGHT
Prince Of Light won a Group 3 race at Newmarket in September, before ending the season with a disappointing run back at the same course in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes. He's still very high on our list of major hopes for this year.

RIVER LENA
A potentially useful middle-distance handicapper, having won her seven furlong maiden at Beverley in July.

SUNDAY SMILE
Picked up a seven furlong Redcar maiden in August and no reason why she won't progress this season, probably over a little bit further.

THREE THIEVES
He's a great big rangy horse, with the scope for plenty of improvement this year.

Three Thieves made all to win a ninefurlong Musselburgh maiden in October. Very few juveniles win over such a long distance as a two-year-old and must be regarded as one of the "dark horses" capable of significant progress this year.

OLDER HORSES

BANDARI

Bandari's back and we're looking forward to another good season with him. Ever since his two-year-old days he's been a star, competing in many of the top middle-distance events. He'll run in the same sort of races, including the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot.

BRAHMINY KITE
He finished fourth in the Irish Derby, but disappointed very badly after that.

He's been gelded now, which could make all the difference since I can't recall training quite such a bad-tempered and aggressive horse for a very long time.

CROSSPEACE
He had a fantastic 2005 season, running well in lots of big handicaps. None of us thought Crosspeace would be certain to stay a mile-and-a-half, but that's exactly what happened when he won a valuable listed race at Doncaster's November meeting. The sky's the limit for him.

HEARTHSTEAD WINGS
Didn't fulfil our dreams in 2005, however he's been gelded and has scope to do much better this year.

HIDDENSEE
Hiddensee was very lazy last year, which might well stand him in good stead as he didn't take much out of himself, but still managed to win a couple of handicaps. Has now been gelded, and has the makings of a very good long distance handicapper.

GOLDEN QUEST
The early signs weren't too good after surgery for a fractured knee, but he's doing very well now, although isn't pencilled in to return until July.

He won a £16,000 staying handicap on the first day of Glorious Goodwood 2005, then returned 48 hours later to finish runner-up in the Group 2 Goodwood Cup.

KINDLING
Kindling absolutely took off at the end of last season, winning at Haydock and Epsom, prior to running an incredible race to take a two mile listed event at Musselburgh. We're very excited about her future prospects.

QUIZZENE
He went off the boil after winning successive handicaps at Sandown and Chester, another candidate likely to improve for a gelding operation.

SHALAPOUR
He's come to us from John Oxx, having finished third in the 2005 Irish Derby and looks an excellent addition.
