AWARDS have been given to two members of the Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton in recognition of their services to the community.
A Paul Harris Fellowship was presented to Dr Kevin Henderson, a retired GP, who moved to Guisborough in 1957, and led the group in 1976 that formed the Guisborough branch of Cruse, the bereavement counselling and support organisation.
A past president of the Rotary Club, Dr Henderson is involved in its international disaster support work, which is currently working to provide Aquabox water filter kits and shoe box emergency kits for disaster areas.
Peter Sotheran received his award in recognition of his work as a trustee of Sir William Turner's Almshouses, at Kirkleatham, and his support over the past 15 years for the Redcar and Cleveland Twinning Association.
Also a former president of the Rotary Club, Mr Sotheran leads the teams that produce and organise the Family Focus Town Directory and the Guisborough Town Fair.
