Young film makers will be at the other end of the lens today watching a screening of their work.
The girls, all students at Bishop Barrington School, in Bishop Auckland, have been invited by the Royal Television Society to see a compilation of films, including their two videos, at a Young People's Showcase taking place at Teesside University's Europa Building this afternoon.
Laura Brown, Zoe-Ann Featenby, Laura Knighton and Lindsay Potter, all in tear ten, and Jade Wilson, from year nine, will be presented with certificates.
They filmed the videos with members of the youth drama group Woodhouse Acting Silly Harry's and actress Jane Crawford, from Daisy Arts.
The first, called Home, covers the history of the Woodhouse Close Estate and conveys the strong community spirit amongst its residents.
The second video is a seven-minute improvised silent film titled Exodus shot at a flour festival held at Woodhouse Close Community Centre to celebrate harvest. It was made in two hours and was inspired by a bible reading about Moses.
A total of 14 youngsters were involved in the filming of Home and nine in the making of Exodus.
The five girls took part in both projects.
