TWELVE church schools are to get grants totalling £1,162,000 in the next financial year to carry out improvements.
The biggest scheme, costing £290,000 is at All Saints CofE School, Kirkby Overblow, which aims to improve cramped conditions.
A report to North Yorkshire County Council's executive also revealed that £200,000 is to be spent at St Aidan's CofE High, Harrogate, where a library and learning resource area will be created.
Other schools to benefit from funding this year include:
Richard Taylor CofE, Harrogate (£70,000); Austwick CofE (£95,000); Carleton Endowed Primary (£10,000); Dacre Braithwaite CofE (£10,000); Kirkby in Malhamdale (£10,000); Terrington CofE (£150,000); Carleton and Faceby CofE (£15,000); St Fisher RC (£88,000); Barkston Ash RC (£100,000); St Wilfrid's RC, Ripon (£34,000); St Joseph's RC, Bishop Thornton (£10,000); and St George's RC, Scarborough (£80,000).
In addition, funding has also been earmarked for four other schools in 2007-8. These are: Masham CofE (£90,000); Ermysted's Grammar, Skipton (£180,000); Kirkby in Malhamdale (£32,000), and Barkston Ash RC (£30,000).
The funding is being provided under the Local Authority Co-ordinated Voluntary Aided Programme.
