PUPILS from across Derwentside have taken part in an engineering competition, completing tasks associated with efficient recycling.
More than 100 year nine youngsters taking part in the Derwentside Schools Engineering Challenge were assessed by teams of experts, at Derwentside College, in Consett.
Points were awarded for design, style and suitability of work.
It was won by Blackfyne Community School, in Blackhill, Consett, for the second year running.
The project was an idea from businesses to stimulate an interest in the subject while young people are still at school. It is hoped teenagers will consider engineering as a career option when choosing their options at GCSE, A-level and university stages.
