POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a van driver was stopped and attacked.
The man was driving a white Mercedes Sprinter van from the A61 towards the A1, at the Rainton Flyover near Ripon, when he was forced to stop by three men in a black Citroen Saxo three-door hatchback.
Two white males in their early 20s then approached the driver, who was still in the van.
After verbally abusing him they attacked him.
The victim suffered slight facial injuries and managed to drive away. He did not require hospital treatment.
Any witnesses to the attack, which happened at 12.40am on Monday, are asked to contact PC Heidi Winter at Ripon Police Station on 0845 60 60 247.
