AN 85-year-old woman is seriously ill in hospital after being knocked down in a town centre. The pensioner was involved in an accident with a Ford Ka in Redcar High Street at about 1pm on Saturday. She was taken to The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, with a serious head injury, where she was still detained last night.
Witnesses to the accident are asked to call Cleveland Road Policing Unit on (01642) 301552.
