A TEAM of ghost hunters got more than they bargained for when they downloaded the photographs of their latest investigation.

A spooky figure was reflected in a mirror - and no one could recognise who it was.

The team from York paranormal investigation company PSI were at the city's Ebor Inn as part of York's recent ghost festival.

Organiser Rachel Lacy said: "I've been doing this now for four years. I've waited all that time for a proper ghost photo and now we have one, I can't believe it myself.

"The first one I took myself. I know who was in the room, and what they were wearing. When we downloaded the photos from the investigations on to the computer, I saw someone I didn't recognise reflected in a mirror, and wouldn't believe it until I had got a good night's sleep.

"I looked again the next day and there it was, a clear figure reflected in a mirror in the Ebor Inn."

Members of PSI have shown the photograph round in the Ebor, but nobody could identify it.

However, the company's chief medium, Diana Jarvis, believes the figure looks like a long-since deceased relative and is looking through family photograph albums.

Another member of PSI also caught a shadowy figure on camera, in the city's Ye Olde Starre Inne.

Ms Lacy said: "Rather eerily, he was stood on a different floor height to the people and furniture in the room coincidentally, it was the skeleton room, used as a morgue when the pub was a field hospital during the English Civil War."
