Alan Swinbank has already enjoyed a memorable year through the exploits of Irish St Leger winner Collier Hill and, to a lesser extent with the progressive Ouninpohja, who has won his last five starts and has developed into a useful sort.

And Swinbank can land another decent payout with the improving The Terrier, who has decent prospects at reasonable odds in the £30,000 added DBS October Yearling Stakes over six furlongs.

Following a debut win at Redcar in September, the daughter of Foxhound turned in her best effort on ground that was on the easy side of good back at the Cleveland track on her most recent start.

Her stall 17 draw looks a good one and, although the bare form of those Redcar wins is nothing special, she left the strong impression both times that the step up to this six furlong trip would see her in a better light.

Vicky Scott's horses have been in good form and her Dispol Foxtrot, an eye-catching second at Leicester last week, is fancied to go close from the same mark in the Dransfield Novelty Company Apprentice Handicap over a mile and a quarter.

A good ground winner at Hamilton on his penultimate start, he made up a considerable amount of ground at Leicester that day and these easier conditions and this more galloping course should see him in a better light.

Another dual purpose trainer that can get among the winners is George Moore, whose progressive stayer Numero Due is the fancy in the Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager Of The Year Handicap over the extended mile and six furlongs.

Following wins at Carlisle and over two miles in handicap company at Thirsk, the gelding lost nothing in defeat behind a fairly useful sort at Nottingham last time and, although back in trip, the easier ground should ensure this is a sufficient test.

Howard Johnson can keep up the momentum for the dual-purpose trainers as his Heureux is an interesting runner on this nursery debut in the Racing Post £1 Million Totetentofollow Nursery over a mile.

The juvenile has progressed with each of his three outings to date and, on the evidence of his latest win at York, he will be very well suited by the step up to this mile trip.

Mark Johnston sends the well regarded Jaad on the long trip to Newbury to contest the cantorspreadfair.com Nursery over seven furlongs and he is fancied to get the better of likely favourite Commentary.

Despite looking very much in need of the race on his debut at Carlisle, he showed the right attitude to win at the first time and, although the bare form is nothing special, he appeals strongly as the type to leave that bare form a long way behind.

Eric Alston's Johnston's Diamond has been in good heart of late and should given another good account in the competitive-looking Stan James Handicap over six furlongs.

The gelding seemed to excel himself when third on unfavourable terms to the useful Ruby Rocket at Hamilton last time but should be better suited by the return to handicap company.

Best bet at Fakenham is James Fanshawe's Cruzspiel, a useful Flat performer who created a favourable impression on his hurdle debut when winning at Huntingdon and he's the one to beat in the 4.20 over the same two and a half mile trip.
