With the ground on the soft side for yesterday's meeting at Newmarket and the prospect of more rain to come, it looks worth siding with the mud lovers at Newmarket today.

Top of the list is David Chapman's Quito, who is a much better horse with give underfoot and is fancied to notch his fourth win of the year in the Igloos Bentinck Stakes over six furlongs.

The evergreen eight-year-old has shown a distinct liking for the course with wins in the Abernant Stakes over course and distance in April and again in Listed company at the July course in August.

Although a shade below his best on his last couple of starts, conditions here will be much more to his liking and, with a couple in this field that can make the running, he should get the race run to suit.

Richard Fahey's Tagula Sunrise is also a fair sort with plenty of cut in the ground and is a sporting nap in the Sporting Index Handicap over his optimum distance of seven furlongs.

A heavy ground winner at Haydock last year, the three-year-old turned in his best effort of this term over this trip on soft ground at Goodwood's Glorious meeting in July.

He's not been disgraced in fair company over a mile and, most recently, over an inadequate six furlongs. But the return to this trip will be to his liking and, at odds around 14-1, he looks well worth an each-way wager.

Kevin Ryan has had an unforgettable season and his High Curragh, who has yet to tackle ground softer than good, looks worth chancing in the conditions in the Taittinger Champagne Nursery over six furlongs.

A good test over this trip will be ideal for this dual winner, who seemed to find things happening too quickly when far from disgraced in a competitive nursery that threw up winners on his most recent start in August.

Saeed bin Suroor and Frankie Dettori, who were in tremendous form at this course yesterday, can again be on the mark with newcomer Ruler's Gold in the opening mile maiden and with Achill Bay in the conditions event over the same trip just over an hour later.

The former is a half-brother to the stable's Rule Of Law - who won last year's St Leger - and should be fit enough for this debut. Achill Bay showed plenty of promise on his first run and is a leading player in what looks an ordinary event.

At Redcar, Constable Burton can carry on the good run by taking the "Thanks & See You Next Season" Handicap over a mile and one furlong.

This confirmed front-runner has been in good form with a Flat win at Nottingham and two hurdles wins and, given he should get the run of the race, is of interest over what could prove an ideal distance.
