A NEW council officer has been appointed to help raise the profile of the arts.
Yvette Turnbull, 38, is the community projects officer in arts and heritage for Ryedale District Council.
The new post will involve working with local people and groups to raise the profile of the arts in the area and bringing in funding.
"There are lots of challenges for the arts in rural areas and I'm really looking forward to working with local groups and individuals to help to overcome them," she said.
"There are so many opportunities here and I'm very excited about them."
