TWO of three men arrested at the weekend after an alleged raid on a pub have appeared in court charged with aggravated burglary.
Colin Calvert, 38, of Brooklands, and Mark Wright, 26, of Walker Drive, both Bishop Auckland, were remanded in custody by Sedgefield magistrates at Newton Aycliffe.
They were arrested after an incident at the Grand Hotel, Bishop Auckland, early on Sunday.
A third man charged with them was taken ill during the night at the town's police station. Gordon Whitfield, 28, from Wensleydale Square, was taken to Bishop Auckland General Hospital but no details of his condition were released at his family's request.
A police spokesman said: "A man was taken ill while in police custody and conveyed to Bishop Auckland General Hospital where his condition is being monitored."
