YOUNG two-wheeled fans are to feature on a TV programme promoting bicycle safety.

The ITV Police Camera Action programme crew will be filming a day of action with youngsters on their BMX bikes and adults on motorbikes.

The police event, called Ridewell 2000, is held at Preston Hall, Stockton, on Sunday.

Among the activities planned are BMX stunt displays, children's cycling tests, competitions and mock-ups of traffic accidents, to teach riders the consequences of not taking safety seriously.

Cleveland Police Inspector Mick Bennett said: "I am concerned at the number of motorcyclists and pedal cyclists who are killed and injured each year, many of whom are the innocent victims of collisions. This event is aimed at raising the awareness of all two-wheel road users to the dangers on the road today."

Other attractions include a visit from the police helicopter, an auto jumble, bouncy castle, motorbike display and trade and refreshment stands. Galaxy Radio will carry out live broadcasts.

Events run from 10am to 5pm.
