Paul Doe, who was seen to very good effect when partnering Rushmore to victory in a valuable Sandown handicap on Saturday, can stay in the news by scoring on Freddy Flintstone in the Bonusprint Showcase Handicap over a mile and a quarter on day two of Newmarket's July meeting.

Although the son of Bigstone has yet to win a race, he showed enough on his last two outings at Newmarket and at Goodwood to suggest that he could make his mark in this type of event.

At Headquarters in May, Richard Hannon's three-year-old ran his best race to date when a close fourth to Atavus over a mile. He finished a neck behind subsequent winner Moon Solitaire that day but now reopposes on a massive 13lbs better terms.

Things didn't go right for the selection at Goodwood last time and he could never land a blow having been held up, but that form has been franked on several occasions and it looks like being better form than it appeared at the time.

Freddy Flintstone is up in class here but he comes from a stable in top form and he's one of the few who don't seem to be handicapped to the hilt. He is sure to be a decent price and is preferred to Paul Cole's Comelius, who seemed to run really well at Sandown last weekend.

Hannon can also be on the mark earlier in the afternoon with Bram, Stoker, a most progressive type, in the Group 3 TNT July Stakes over six furlongs.

Following two wins in minor events, the son of General Monash recorded his best effort to date when a highly commendable second to Cd Europe in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

The juvenile is certainly open to plenty of further improvement and he is taken to beat Sir Mark Prescott's Bravado, who takes a steep rise in class after two easy wins at Wolverhampton and Doncaster.

Hannon can complete a three-timer with Dominus in the EBF Swaythling Memorial Novice Stakes over the same distance. The scopey two-year-old has shown a fair level of form in both his runs to date and can get the better of Sir Michael Stoute's newcomer Spy Master.

Geoff Wragg's Danceabout ran a corker for one so inexperienced when fifth to Observatory in the highly competitive Jersey Stakes at the Royal Meeting and can get back to winning ways in the Falmouth Stakes over a mile.

That effort marked her down as very much one to be interested in for future events and she shaped that day as though she would be even better over the extra furlong of today's contest. She has plenty of scope and she handled cut in the ground on her debut at Goodwood the time before.

At Doncaster Arn Goldie's Pips Magic is well worth another chance now he is away from firm ground in the closing classified stakes over six furlongs.

The four-year-old has slipped in the weights since last year but shaped as if retaining all his ability, despite finishing unplaced behind Manorbier, at Thirsk in May.

My selection wasn't at all disgraced on firm ground from a modest draw at Newcastle last time and he is preferred to Alan Berry's Franeport, who is better than he showed in the same race at Gosforth Park last time.

Mark Johnston's Mana D'Argent is also worth another chance at six furlongs now he gets genuinely good ground and is the selection in the Transpennine Express Handicap.

From a stable that can't stop having winners the three-year-old showed he was at the top of his game over seven furlongs at Epsom last time and this more conventional course looks sure to suit.

l VODAFONE Oaks second, third and fourth Kalypso Katie, Melikah and Petrushka headed 12 declarations for Sunday's Irish Oaks at the Curragh.

l LITTLE Rock produced a powerful late charge against the stands' rails to seize victory in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket.

The colt found plenty when asked by Pat Eddery and led close home to deny Yavana's Pace.

''He was a weak horse at two and three but is much stronger and more mature now,'' said trainer Sir Michael Stoute.

Mark Johnston, trainer of Yavana's Pace, said: ''I'm disappointed because as I've said before if ever a horse deserves to win a Group One or a Group Two he does.''

The trainer is hoping Yavana's Pace will be given a high enough rating to get in the Canadian International
