A MAN who terrorised a teenager into starring in sex films with him was convicted of multiple rapes yesterday.

John Hind, 54, claimed he bought a video camera to record his first baby, but instead scared the 16-year-old into sordid shoots at her home, while her mother was out.

When she fled to a hostel to escape his clutches, he threatened to give a copy to her father, but she went to the police, Teesside Crown Court heard.

She said Hind got her drunk before he abused her. Then, one night, he rigged up the camera and ordered her to strip.

The girl, now 17, told the jury: "I did not want to do it, but I was frightened he would hit me. He would ask me to smile and not to be frightened."

Hind claimed she consented to sex and to performing for the video, which the jury watched.

Hind, of Lindisfarne, Peterlee, County Durham, was convicted of three specimen rapes and two indecent assaults. He was cleared of a third rape charge.

He had a suspected heart attack during the trial and was not in court to hear judge David Bryant remand him in custody for reports, before sentence.
