A man told a court yesterday he could not remember a teenager whom he left brain-damaged after a street attack.
Mark Hobson, 24, hung his head as he added that he could not even recall the incident because he had been drunk.
But he accepted that he was responsible for 19-year-old Christopher Poole's condition because the trial at Teesside Crown Court was shown a four-minute CCTV video of the incident in Stockton.
Hobson had been ejected from the Visage nightspot after a fight with Christopher's brother, Jefferson, over a girl.
Outside, Hobson vented his anger on Christopher, said prosecutor Shaun Dodds.
The CCTV cameras recorded Hobson beating Christopher into a coma. His brain injuries were so devastating he would never he able to give evidence against Hobson.
Hobson, of Shearwater Lane, Norton, Teesside, admits causing grievous bodily harm last June, but denies causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The case continues.
