AN Internet centre at the University of Sunderland has attracted £200,000 in European Social Funding to train Internet entrepreneurs throughout the North-East.
The Centre for Electronic Commerce offers a unique e-business success programme (ESP) aimed at helping small to medium-sized businesses close the gap on other UK regions in exploiting the electronic economy.
And it is expected to be the driving force behind a number of innovative dot.com start up enterprises on the world wide web.
The centre has clinched grant support as a recognised centre of excellence in helping local companies embrace information communications technology as a powerful business building tool.
The free ESP course is now up and running, and a second is due to start on July 25. The course should not be confused with courses on learning how to design a web site. It covers developing a business strategy which encompasses e-commerce. For details ring Tracey Pitt on (0191) 515 3571.
