PRIMARY school children have been experiencing life at a Billingham secondary school through a series of trails.

The year five pupils from a selection of local primary schools have taken part in a series of tasks and games based on the Phantom Tolbooth by Norton Juster.

Organised by Tony Sutton, head of science at Billingham Campus School, the trail comprises of elements from the art, history, geography, science, maths and English departments.

Year nine students act as helpers to the younger children as they take them through the magical world of Dictionopolis, Digitopolis and a tale of kings, princes, princesses and monsters. On successful completion of each task, the primary school children were given a token, which builds up to make a complete passport.

Mr Sutton said: "The aim of this event is to help get the junior school pupils used to the school environment for when they are ready to start.

"It allows them to have a look around and get a sample of some of the subjects they will be studying.

"It also helps our pupils expand on teambuilding skills."

The artwork for the trail was designed and produced by year eight and the art department.
