POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal hit and run road traffic accident in the region.
Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident outside Hardwick Social Club, Stockton, at 10.10pm on Sunday night.
A 49-year-old Hardwick man, who hasn't been identified, was hit by what is thought to be a BMW car as he left the club and crossed the road at the pelican crossing. He died later in North Tees Hospital.
The car was travelling north along Harrowgate Lane in the direction of Bishopsgarth and failed to stop after the collision.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information about the vehicle or the driver is asked to contact PC John Morton of the Crash Investigation Unit on (01642) 301558.
