COUNCILLORS will meet today to discuss a proposed football stadium in a North-East town.
Members of Darlington Borough Council's cabinet will talk about the latest developments in the ongoing stadium row.
Protestors against the Neasham Road site in Darlington are threatening to take their fight to the High Court if the site is handed over to Darlington FC.
They claim the authority would be contravening European law on human rights by giving the stadium the go-ahead.
They say the issue is the impact the stadium would have on the traveller community living on the caravan site 40 yards from where the ground would be built.
The issue is going back to councillors because the authority wants to ensure that all legal issues are addressed and all procedures strictly adhered to.
The cabinet meeting will be held in private but a planning meeting, on September 6, will be open to the public
