NEWCASTLE Airport is the first in the world to offer passengers an on-line timetable.

The timetable uses daily information updates from global flight schedules provider OAG.

At www.newcastleairport.com, travellers have free, instant access to tens of thousands of flights and flight combinations to anywhere in the world.

With just a few clicks, the site will calculate the best routings and flight combinations from millions of options using the schedules of more than 800 airlines from around the world.

Some of the other features of the site include details of the special offers available at Newcastle and an on-line car park booking facility.

Visitors to Newcastle Airport's web site can access the service through the airport's home page.

Chris Sanders, business development manager at Newcastle Airport, said: "This new facility is an excellent addition to the on-line services already on offer and complements our printed timetables.

He added: "It will make it even easier for travellers to plan their journey on Newcastle Airport's growing network of scheduled services and the extensive range of connections available to worldwide destinations."

The information can be viewed on any PC with Internet access, anywhere in the world.

Lynne Fraser, publishing manager aviation of OAG, said: "With airports competing with each other for passengers, all credit to Newcastle for providing the very first electronic timetable."

She added: "This will offer an invaluable additional service, and encourage loyalty among travellers who know they can depend on the information.
