When Billingham Town Boys FC needed a new strip they came up with a novel way of attracting a sponsor.
As team sponsors are hard to come by the club decided to hold a prize draw, the winner of which would become shirt sponsors for just £10!
As a full strip costs £350 the club needed to attract 35 interested companies to enter the raffle - and the winner was Darlington Building Society.
They were drawn first out of the hat and are now proud sponsors of the team who join Darlington FC, Redcar Rugby Club and Darlington Mowden Park Juniors and Minis Teams as DBS-sponsored.
David Copland, Marketing and Communications Manager at DBS, was so impressed with the innovative scheme he sent the club £10 the same day he received a letter inviting an application.
After he discovered DBS had been successful in the draw David commented said: "What an amazing result! Darlington Building Society is proud that yet another local sports team will be wearing the Society's logo.
"Darlington Building Society is dedicated to looking after local interests and we feel this includes supporting grass roots sport in the region.
"We wish Billingham Town Boys FC every success and consider this the best £10 we have ever spent"
