FOLLOW the form and you won't go too far wrong, at least in the case of jockeys. The men of the moment are Adrian Maguire, Tony Dobbin and Russ Garritty - plus any of Mary Reveley's gang.

Maguire took a Market Rasen treble last Thursday, two legs being for Micky Hammond, whose form this fortnight is also untouchable.

Maguire was also in great form at Musselburgh, winning for his boss Ferdy Murphy on Star To The North, as we forecast, and on Hindiana.

Mary Reveley and Peter Niven also doubled up with Whistling Dixie and No Chance, while Mick Easterby picked Tony Dobbin to win on Minster Glory.

Micky Hammond was on the mark again, with a first-time winner on his fourth public ride for 28-year-old Ashley Hopkins, who has been with the Middleham trainer for more than two years.

Wetherby saw Garritty win for George Moore on Premier Drive, while Mary Reveley's winner, Function Dream, was in the young hands of Anthony Ross and may follow up in the Castleford Chase at the same venue's Boxing Day meeting.

Moore's winner was tipped here, while Skillwise, Narrow Water, Dhaudeloup and Garruth were all second.

Jim Turner's Inn At The Top was also second at the Yorkshire course, but he had compensation at Towcester with Bold Action, a first winner from his second runner at the course.

On Monday, the Murphy-Maguire winner was at Ayr where Ballinclay King behaved impeccably, following his whip-round at the start at Carlisle, to score comfortably.

Generally, we don't need to look at Fakenham results, the Norfolk track being off most of our local trainers' lists. But there were three good winners for us on Monday afternoon.

Brian Ellison had to set off at 6am, but was delighted with his win from Executive Choice. Norman Mason had a double, with Dominic Elsworth riding the first, Jokers Charm, as Richard Guest was unable to reach the track in time. Peter Ryan rode the second, Red Imp.

Today, weather permitting, Cheltenham sees Mary Reveley with possible winners Bhutan (1.55) (Alan Dempsey) and Brother Of Iris (2.30), with an eye-catching booking of Tony Dobbin. Malcolm Jefferson's Tyllumurry Toff, a course and distance winner, is in the 3.05 with Tom Siddall up.

At Doncaster, Tim Easterby has two in the 2.10, Cumbrian Challenge (Brian Harding) and Barnburgh Boy (Russ Garritty). Preference is for the latter.

Garritty should take the 2.45 on Roman Rampage, another Easterby runner. In the bumper (3.20), watch the market indicators for Ferdy Murphy's entry Jimmy Whiskers (J P McNamara).

Tomorrow, if running, Cheltenham hopefuls are: 12.15 October Mist, Mary Reveley; 12.50 Red Ark, Norman Mason; 1.25 (the Tingle Creek, re-routed from the abandoned Sandown meeting) Direct Route, Howard Johnson; 2.30 (Tripleprint Gold Cup) Red Marauder, Norman Mason and/or Robbo, Mary Reveley; 3.05 (the Bula) Barton, Tim Easterby.

Up at Haydock, Dhaudeloup in the Sea Pigeon hurdle (1.10) and Garruth in the Grade 2 novice hurdle (3.40) may make amends for Richard Fahey and Tim Easterby respectively.

Deep Water may take the 1.00, the grade 2 novice chase, for Micky Hammond, but the biggest danger is the Venetia Williams-trained Crocadee. Bobby Grant might land the Tommy Whittle (2.35) for Peter Beaumont if back to his best.
