CAMPAIGNERS fighting for what they have dubbed "the forgotten end" of Northallerton to be cleaned up, have secured a private meeting with a council chief.
Residents and traders formed the North End Action Group to protest about the area they say is blighted by boarded up houses, derelict buildings and wasteland.
They will outline their concerns to Hambleton District Council's director of planning and environmental services director, Steve Quartermain, next week.
Paul Johnson, who runs The Standard pub, said yesterday: "The council has asked for a private meeting with us, so we are hoping things are now going to get moving."
More than 1,000 people have already given their support to the clean-up campaign by signing petitions, which have been handed out throughout the town
