SHE has the chance to be one of the trendiest middle-aged shoppers in the North-East.

But, instead of heading to the shops on the micro-scooter she won in a shopping competition, Mary Corner, 47, has decided to give it to one of her nephews or nieces this Christmas.

The competition was organised by Sunderland city centre management, and the High Street West traders group, to promote Sunday shopping.

"It was a big surprise," said Mrs Corner, of the Hendon area of the city. "I think I'm just a little too old for it myself."
