CHILDREN in Crookhall, County Durham, will be able to play in safety, thanks to a cash hand-out from the National Lottery.

Members of the Crookhall Foundation are to build a fence around a children's play area in the village, just outside Consett. The foundation received £3,250 from National Lottery agents Awards for All.

Consett Disabled Persons Club received £2,880 for work on the roof of its headquarters, in Ashdale Road.
