Former World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty has called on his old team Ducati to quit the series in which he won his four titles.

The former Ducati star, who walked away from racing this year following a protracted recovery from a broken arm, wants the Italian firm to concentrate on developing a new four-stroke machine for the Grands Prix World Championship.

Fogarty has turned down the chance to run a World Superbike team for Ducati in 2001 but expressed an interest in fronting a four-stroke team for GPs the year after.

''It's obviously a big decision for Ducati to make, but the way I see it they don't have a choice,'' Fogarty said. ''There is no future in WSB.''
