HARTLEPOOL United boss Chris Turner has issued a rallying call to supporters.

Pool moved into the play-off zone on Tuesday night with a goalless draw at leaders Chesterfield - and were backed by almost 800 travelling fans.

Tomorrow they entertain Carlisle at Victoria Park, looking to make it eight wins from their last nine League and Cup outings.

Turner, who has transformed Pool into genuine promotion contenders, is hoping fans will turn out in force.

Carlisle are expected to sell-out their allocation of tickets for the Rink End and Turner said: "We had fantastic travelling support on Tuesday - they got behind the team which always gives us a lift.

"I've always said we've got a very good nucleus of about 2,500 to 2,900 - if there were 4,000 there every week it would give everybody a lift. Hopefully the people in the town will come and give us a push in the second half of the season.

"They can't complain at the entertainment we've given them this season and especially over the last four or five home games. Hopefully on Saturday we'll get the kind of turn out that the players deserve.''

Pool have taken four points from two tough away games in the last week, Tuesday's point coming on the back of last Saturday's 2-1 triumph at play-off rivals Cheltenham.

After losing two of their first three games on home soil this season, Pool are unbeaten in 12 League and Cup games. A similar run last season propelled Pool into the top seven and Turner is confident of his side's promotion hopes.

"With everyone fit and confidence high I feel that we've got a fair chance. We've got the making of a very good team and we want to keep the home run going."
