MOTORISTS on a North-East country road are being warned to take care, following two accidents in a week.

The A173, near the east Cleveland village of Skelton, has been the scene of two head- on crashes in three days and police are concerned that motorists are not taking enough care on winding stretches.

On Monday evening, two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after their cars collided on the road.

On Wednesday evening, a motorcyclist from Eston, near Middlesbrough, suffered a suspected broken wrist after he was involved in a head-on collision with a Vauxhall Corsa.

Sergeant Mick Bennett, of Cleveland Police, said: "It is a winding country road and needs treating with respect.

"The accidents involve single vehicle drivers who appear to be driving too fast. They should take care and keep their speed down around the bends."
