A YOUNG hero who kept cool when his mother collapsed from a severe bout of flu, has been honoured for his bravery by the ambulance service.
Five-year-old Aston Field, of Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, used mum Sandra's mobile phone to dial 999 - something he had never done before.
He also made sure the front door was open so paramedics could get in, before going to comfort little sister Caitlane.
"He was so brave," said control room assistant Carol Bickerdike, who took Aston's call. "He must have been terribly upset but he certainly didn't show it.
"He gave us full details of what had happened and where to send the ambulance, adding his mummy was on the floor and her eyes were shut - and please would we hurry!"
Sandra, who has made a full recovery, said: "I'm so proud of him. He was brilliant."
