CLASSIC cars are gearing up for a 100-mile charity run.

Hundreds of vintage vehicle owners are expected to turn out for the Beamish Reliability Run on Fathers' Day - June 17.

It begins at Beamish Museum and takes a scenic route through County Durham and North Yorkshire.

Last year's event attracted more than 100 cars and bikes, all pre-dating 1951, although some failed to reach the finishing line after engines overheated in baking sunshine.

The Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland is appealing to entrants to contact them on (01388) 603003 to get a collection tin for their journey.
