FOUR youngsters from an Eaglescliffe primary school have made all the right moves in a chess competition.

The children from The Links school's chess club took part in the Sunderland Chess competition, playing against youngsters from all over the North-East.

Adam Bridges and Markus Waddoup both played in the under-ten section and Harriet Tebbs won the title of under-ten Suprema.

Catriona Bruce won the title of Suprema in the under-seven section.

The girls will now go through to the grand final in Sheffield in July.

The chess club at the school is run by governor Sean Marsh who accompanied the children to the competition.

Teacher Sue Wheatley said: "We were all delighted with the results and wish both girls all the very best of success for the finals."
