Alf Armes Junior Cup - DESPITE making the useful total of 103-2 from 20 overs, Dawdon made their exit from the Boddingtons Durham Coast League competition, losing by eight wickets to Ryhope.

Stephen Gale stroked 10 boundaries in an unbeaten 51 when Dawdon batted first and Stephen Scott had seven fours in 39 leading Ryhope to victory.

South Hetton reached the next round, defeating Houghton by 24 runs. Faced with a target of 99, Houghton were all out for 74 as Gibbett took three for 11 in four overs. Tim Bowman top-scored with 24 while in the South Hetton innings Kyle Bradbury ended unbeaten on 40 out of a total of 98-4.

Tony Holder's 42 not out was the feature of Hylton's match-winning 101-6 in their tie with Castle Eden who replied with 90-5 which included 48 by Chris Kelly.

Boldon CA won an exciting match with Bill Quay by two wickets with one ball remaining. Lewins top-performed in the Boldon innings, hitting two sixes and three boundaries in 39 while in the Bill Quay total of 120-2, Hussain had 11 fours making 62 and Alec Strange contributed 31.

Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-15

CHESTER-LE-STREET enjoyed a 10-wickets victory against Durham City when Liam Simpson carried his bat for 51 and John Coxon was unbeaten on 17 as the opening pair put on 85 runs without being parted. When Durham made first use of the wicket they ended on 84-3 with Parnaby their top scorer making 39. Paul Rodham bowled a good end for the Cestrians and in five overs claimed two wickets for 21 runs.

Boldon also won by a 10-wickets margin in their match with Hetton Lyons who were all out for 29 as Robert Scorer captured three wickets for only four runs. Boldon easily reached the low target as Chris Walsh remained undefeated with 20.

After restricting Eppleton to 67-5, Burnmoor won with five wickets intact.

Scott Robinson was their matchwinner hitting two fours in 32 and Michael Hall had a good game with the ball for Burnmoor, taking four wickets for 19 runs in five overs.

The Readers Durham County League Under-18

Peter Caulfield was in magnificent form for Langley Park in their home game against Ushaw Moor. The talented youngster hit an unbeaten 106 which together with 35 by Greg Coates and 33 from John Lee, propelled Langley Park to the huge total of 201 for the loss of only three wickets.

Replying, Ushaw Moor were pegged to 93-9 as Chris Owers top-performed with the ball for Langley Park, claiming two wickets for two runs to help his side to a 128-runs win.

Etherley and Brandon were involved in a high-scoring match which the visitorswon by just nine runs.

Batting first, Brandon posted 131-3 of which Tompkins scored 84 and the best bowler for Etherley was Richard Balmer who had figures of 2-27.

When Etherley went into bat, Balmer led the chase for runs and he scored 40.

James Armstrong added 36 but when time was up Etherley were 122-6, just 10 runs short of a winning margin. Curry was the pick of the Brandon bowlers claiming four of the six wickets to go down for 33 runs.

Esh Winning comfortably saw off the challenge of Tudhoe by 60 runs.

The visitors, set a target of 114, managed 53-9 as Ian Corrick returned figures of 3-13, Scott Kimmins took 2-2 and Chris Dodds claimed two wickets for seven runs.

When Esh Winning made first use of the wicket, they ended wih 113-6 of which Eddie Watson scored 54 and Corrick 19.

Glasper, with figures of 2-19, was the most successful Tudhoe bowler.
