A COUNTY Durham youngster is celebrating after becoming a junior karate champion.
Danny Metcalfe, a 12-year-old from Newton Aycliffe, is unbeaten in three years and beat James Dixon, from Manchester, over three rounds in the recent NASCKC Junior Grand Karate Championship.
The first dan black belt, who has been training for six years under the guidance of instructor Dave Lancaster, has set his sights on the world championships and has been selected for the England junior team.
