Sunderland boss Peter Reid is planning a £3 million swoop for French international striker Lilian Laslandes.

Reid confirmed the burly Bordeaux ace is one of the players at the top of his summer shopping list.

Laslandes, 29, who has won seven caps for the world champions, has averaged 15 goals a season since joining Bordeaux in 1997.

And he could be seen as a long term replacement at the Stadium of Light for veteran Irish hitman Niall Quinn.

Reid told the Sunderland website: "Lilian is a player I admire and he is one of a few I'm currently looking at."

Paris St Germain and Celtic have also shown an interest in the former Auxerre frontman.
