Redcar WMC take on four of the world's best pub football teams when they compete for the International Carlsberg Pub Cup in Sweden this weekend.

The Cleveland club qualified for the international tournament when they won the national competition at Liverpool's Anfield ground last month against Sizewell Sports and Social of Suffolk.

With the added attraction of the final being played at the Nya Ullevi Stadium, which is where the final of the 1992 European Championships was held, Redcar now bid to overcome the challenge of teams from USA, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland.

On Tuesday evening the team underwent some last minute preparation under the guidance of ex-Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson.

The BBC pundit was on hand to pass on some tips to the team who had only ever reached the last 64 of the national knock-out competition before taking the title this season.

A solitary Danny Brunskill strike against the Suffolk opposition was enough to win the competition which boasts 520 entrants - making it comparable to the FA Cup in terms of size.

Now in it's sixth season, The Carlsberg Pub Cup was created to give fans and amateur footballers the opportunity to, not only play at some of the most prestigious football stages in the world, but to experience a truly national footballing competition.

In the semi final Redcar faced Exmouth Snooker Club at Fulham's Craven Cottage, winning 5-4 on penalties before going ton to their date at Anfield.
